Hive 3 Block for Lisa

Alrighty! This month was a quick and easy original block for Lisa, and mine was in the post to Canada as of a few days ago! It will be interesting to see how the blues, grays and reds all look together!

Irene's Low-Volume New Quilt for a New Bedroom! Hive 6

Be sure to check out Irene's post showing her old and new bedroom setups.  Her block selections are going to give the room a pop and focus for a truly wow result.

My little contribution:

Going in the USPS post today!

Thank you for an interesting block to make this month, Irene. I learned that I have a bit of a hole in my stash-soft, light grays! With help from my friend's stash, and just a little stash enhancement, I was able to make two blocks that look different from each other. I hope these work for you and that you enjoy the new look in your bedroom.

Hive 5 - April

These blocks were quick, so quick in fact, that I had them completed the first day of the tutorial.  I may have been quick with the sewing, but I'm behind in packaging and mailing.  Off to the post office I will go tomorrow.
(This photo is not the best - oops!)

Aprill Hive 2 Bee block for Brenda

Brenda asked for a flock of  birds. We used paper piecing, which I have done plenty of, but realize it's not my most enjoyable technique, but I got her done. :)  I also do not have a stash of batiks and am glad I found this piece. I based my colors of the bird off of the batik so it would be harmonious. I am happy to say I think he turned out pretty good!  Funny thing is  I took a knitting class on how to knit birds yesterday and have been delighting in the birds that are fluttering and feeding on my newly established bird feeding area my husband created for me. So yes, it's been a month of feathery friends. Prefect block for a time as this.

I hope you enjoy this block, looks like you will have a happy flock with the treasures I have been seeing in our hive. Happpy Spring!

Nine patch in a nine pach in a nine patch for Irene

Queen Irene created a nine patch in a nine patch in a nine patch block for the quilt to go on her new bed!  She asked for soft grays.  I didn't have much that fit that bill, but I took the excuse to visit my quilt shop!

I hope you like it, Irene!  Can't wait to see the finished quilt!

April Hive 4 Queen Rhonda Blocks

Rhonda,  I will be popping these beauties in the mail for you.  Want to keep them, but, you are the Queen!  Great choice of block.  It was fun!

Blocks for Rhonda, Hive Four

So, these blocks for Rhonda were super simple to sew up and I love using up random scraps in my scrap bin. I may sew a few more tonight as well - I mean, they only take a few minutes!! These will ship on Monday!

A little Flock of Birds

I have completed my little flock of birds for Brenda. A fun little block to make using paper piecing one of my favourite techniques.

I hope you like them, I had great fun making them and I am looking forward to seeing them in a quilt, it is going to be fun.
Happy Quilting

Hive 2 April Bird Blocks for Brenda

I may blog at Smiles from Kate but I certainly wasn't smiling at the thought of the dreaded paper piecing, and you see, I had a bit of trouble!  Familiar story for readers of my blog.  Would you believe it took me well over three hours to make one block?

Not to be beaten I had another go, and the second one was much faster.  I hope these blend in well with the rest of your flock Brenda, they will be winging their way to you this week.

With smiles from

Hive 1 Star Block for T

I loved the colors T picked for her blocks this month.  Deep blue is one of my favorite colors to wear but I haven't sewn much with it, I think now I'll start!

I made two star blocks, the first one pretty simple and then one with a little more piecing. Hope you enjoy, T! ~ Greta

April Hive 2 blocks for Brenda

Brenda asked for PAPER PIECED  bird blocks - YIKES!! This is only my second attempt at paper piecing, and the first time around was not exactly noteworthy.  I had been wanting to try it again so was pretty excited with her choice - and pretty nervous.  I dove right in to give it a try early in the month in case - you know, in case I would need a few attempts.  But they went great!

I waited for a sunny day to get an outside shot, but of course there was a stiff breeze to contend with. My batik stash is very limited so I hope they will blend ok with your project.  This was really fun, Brenda.  Thanks for shoving me out of my comfort zone! ;)  I'll get this in the mail soon.

April Hive 7 Block for Pam

Hi Pam (and everyone else)! I hope you meant it when you said you were okay with orange! Cause here they come! Dropped them in the mail yesterday morning, so hopefully you'll have them by tomorrow! There are definitely more than 16, but I can't remember the exact number, I think there are 24 total.

Hive 6 April Block for Irene

Gray is not a color in my stash! I think I have every color except gray. I had to do a little shopping, and had a hard time finding what I needed in my one fabric store. Hopefully this block will work in your quilt.

I mailed these on Saturday and Jennifer already received them.  Looking forward to seeing the completed quilt.

Hive 5 April Blocks for Jennifer

Hi All -
This was a fun block to make so I made two.  Hope you enjoy Jennifer, I will get them in the mail tomorrow.

Have a great day
Kristi

Hive 8 April X and + Blocks for Ursula

Ursula, I will have these in the mail this week to you.  Hopefully they work well with the other blocks.  I have to say yellow is not my cup of tea so I was limited in my stash choices (if it was mustard I would have had you covered😉). I am also including a few extra squares to use if you have any more blocks to make. Congratulations on your growing family!

Hive 7 -Triangles for Pam

Pam is my kind of quilter--white, bright and triangles.  I really enjoyed making these for you Pam and hope that they fit in with the grand scheme of things!

Hive 3 for April

A block for Lisa ...

Judy
from the House Above Heck Creek

Hive 4, April

This was a wonderfully easy block to make; the hardest part was figuring out which fabrics to use!  I started by looking in my multi-colored bin.  It doesn't get to come out much because I'm usually looking for something with an obvious color leaning.  I decided to go with the rockets and planets that you see in the middle; it was originally for my son's quilt.

Hive 7 april

Pam had a simple request this month, hst units for an overall larger design so i whipped these up for her -- and apparently forgot to take a picture. She has confirmed they arrived. Crazy month.

Hive 5 April Jennifer's Block.
I really enjoyed making this block - not just because it was super simple (it was) or because I LOVE the way these blocks can interchange and look so AMAZINGLY different (they do) but selfishly because it has convinced me to buy a little mini iron for my table - HOORAY! It's rather extravagant but nearly Mother's Day so....Jennifer I have made you four - I love the glimmer fabric and this is a perfect block to show it off.
In the post on Tuesday

Queen Lisa J.

I certainly hope you like this for your niece's quilt.  I enjoyed making this block

Hive 8 April block for Ursi

A big block this month!
Ursi wanted a plus block and because it was only 8 inch unfinished,
we were asked if we would make four.
Of course :-) So here it is.
One huge block for a September/October baby.

Hive 9 - Block For Sherry

I have only found one problem with being a part of this bee and it is that it gives me way too many ideas for quilts that I want. This month's block for Sherry is no exception. It is such a fun block and my only struggle was finding 40 different blues, if she had said pink or purple that wouldn't have been an issue, but most of my blues had lots of other colors in them.  But I did find  40 different ones without having to buy anything. Two are very close but are actually from two different manufacturers, so I'm counting them as different. Here is my block.

It is packaged up and going in the mail today. After seeing the blocks on Facebook, I think Sherry is going to have a very beautiful quilt to gift to her daughter. And now I want to make one in a scrappy version, and pink version, so on and so on...this bee is going to get me in trouble. Now I have to start working in putting mine together from last month.

Hive 7

Pam asked for 16 HST's - scrappy and white.  Hope these fit the bill~they will be in the mail tomorrow.  Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
Don't do what I did - make sure they are all turned the right way before it's put together!

Greetings from Hive 4.

Birdie, Birdie, Birdie!

Hi All,
Wellllllll..... Paper Piecing just isn't my forte'... and usually ends up with at least one "OOPS" and this time is not different!  Ugh.. I wish I could just fly through paper piecing with ease like birds in the air, or just wing it and have it work.. but no!  It's for the birds! hehe.. Anyway, enough with my silliness.

So here is my OOPS

And here is the good bird
and here they are keeping each other company - birds of a feather flock together...
I sent both along with some bits of fabric that you can use to fix the one block, use in some additional blocks or just add to your stash!  Maybe just keep the OOPS block and add it to the quilt as part of the story.  So, I'll just flutter away, clean up the nest of scraps and listen to the chirping birds of spring!

Lisa...

April Block for Rhonda In Hive 4...

Here is my block for our Queen, Rhonda for Hive 4 for April. I had a lot of fun making this block. I made the block 16" square so Rhonda can trim it down to what she wants. I love those pink/ purple teardrops. Can't wait to see what Rhonda does with this one.

Hive 7 April

Pam is our fabulous queen this month and she requested
1/2 square triangles.

{2 of each}

These are so quick to do...and are very addicting!

I am really looking forward to seeing this beautiful quilt all together!

Peace to all....Laura

Bird Blocks for Brenda - Hive 2

Sneaked in a little sewing time today to make these bird blocks for Brenda. So glad I had a layer cake of bright batiks in my stash. Hope these will be a good addition to her flock.

I'll try to get the in the mail tomorrow.

Irene's block Hive 6

Here is a cute block 9 patch in a 9 patch in 9 patch. I don' t own grays, especially this beautiful light shade she wanted. I purchased a few to add to the stash, and made due with reversals of black/white prints. Hope it goes well?

Hive 9 block for Sherry

Here's my block for Sherry.  Looks like it will make a great wedding present!  Shelly R.

Hive 4- super de duper late!!

Hello friend!  I am so sorry your block is late!  We suffered a significant loss earlier this month and my sewing MOJO seemed to fly away...  I'm slowly finding my way out of the fog and the freedom of this unique block really allowed my creativity to find its flow!!  Xxo Helga

April HIve 7 blocks for Pam

Pam has already received these.  I'm late to post because one of our cats chewed through the power cord of our laptop. Really!!!  Those of you with cats know the rascally things they do when our backs are turned.  And then the shining innocent faces that turn our way later.

It was very fun to pull random scraps to make lots of half square rectangle for Pam.

Looking forward to seeing her finished quilt in the future.

April Hive 4 for Rhonda

First off, I have to say, I was thrilled to find Rhonda's request to have so few stipulations.  I was fun and easy to accomplish.

I hope these work for you.

Lori

Hive 3 Block for Lisa in April

My stash is heavy in blues and greys, so a block from me could have turned out hundreds of different ways, but these are the fabrics that called out to me for Lisa.  I wasn't going to use red because she only wanted a little bit, but I found this red, blue, and cream texts print that just seemed way too perfect.

I will mail this on Friday 4/7, when I have to go to the post office for other things as well.  I sure hope you dig it, Lisa J!!
